Caroline Guitar Company has unveiled a brand-new pedal called the Megabyte Lofi Delay, carrying on the legacy of the Kilobyte, and made in collaboration with Electronic Audio Experiments.
Like the Kilobyte, the Megabyte was made for the fans of lo-fi, low-res delay that calls back to effects of the 1980s. It features two old-school, digital, lo-fi PT2399 chips for up to 1200 milliseconds of delay, which is available via time control or tap tempo. Speaking of, tap tempo includes three repeater options available via the divide control: quarter notes, eights, or dotted eights. According to Caroline Guitar Co., "Hold down the tap button and the havoc self oscillation begins almost immediately."
The gain preamp in the pedal gives players up to 21dB of drive on just the "wet" signal, so players can choose between leaving the pedal's signal clean, boosting just the repeats, or really making them as dirty as possible. The Megabyte also includes a wave trimpot for dialing up modulation from subtle detunes to noticeable warble and shifted pitch.
